A Blog about Children and Parents dealing with Apraxia
Good Evening,
This is a Blog site for parents with kids that are suffering from Apraxia. It will allow you to discuss with others who are dealing with the same condition your child is. Please do not put any information on the site that can allow someone to find out your phone, or address. This is for the security of the children.
My 3yo son was diagnosed by UCLA ECPHP back in Oct 2009 with Apraxia. They recommended 5 half hour sessions but of course, we did not get that at all from the school district. We are trying to get the RC to pay for speech for the 5 weeks he is out of school but they are having us jump through hoops. We are not giving up though!
In the last few months, my husband figured out that my son took to phonics and this nonverbal child started sounding out words. Now he has about 25 words that he says on a consistent basis and he can read! Leap Frog has some Learning Factory videos that have been helpful.
On a side note, our son was also evaluated by Cal State LA and they informed me that he had a phonological disorder. They don’t support the diagnosis of Apraxia. Another day, another diagnosis!

Thank you for coming to the ApraxiaChildrenblog, please tell others about it. We had gone to our local Ped Dr. She wanted to use to follow up with a Neologis (sp?) and he just finally said that yes, our son does have apraxia.
It has been a loong road for us also. We had been told that we had a child that might have autism, Infantile spasms, and a ton of other things. I am going to try to get an article done for the site to talk about all what we did and went through. Welcome to the site, I hope you come back again.

This is a place in Calif that does cakes that are Gluten free, and egg free. I have not tried them, but I was on a list that they talked about it. It is suppose to be wonderful. They will ship to you, so you can check out the web site and see what they have.
